Savannah College of Art and Design is a multi-campus school with more than 13000 students from all around the world. Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges accredits the schools as well as many other regional and professional accrediting bodies. Savannah College of Art and Design, or in short SCAD, was established as a private, nonprofit university to provide access to some programs that are not available in the region in 1978.

Today, SCAD has degree-granting campuses in Savannah (Georgia) Atlanta (Georgia), Hong Kong, and Lacoste (France). They also offer a degree-granting online eLearning education.

Savannah College of Art and Design, Education

The education in SCAD is divided into many schools. These schools are the School of Fine Arts, School of Digital Media, School of Communication Arts, School of Entertainment Arts, School of Foundation Studies, School of Building Arts, School of Liberal Arts, School of Fashion, and School of Design.

Through these schools, SCAD offers more than 100 different programs. Over 40 of them are majors, and the rest 60-plus programs are minors.

Of all the programs SCAD offers, the animation-related programs are among the most popular ones. There are four programs on animation topic;

  • Minor in Animation Program
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation which you can enroll in Savannah, Atlanta, or Hong Kong
  • Master of Arts in Animation which you can enroll in Savannah, or eLearning
  • Master of Fine Arts in Animation which you can enroll in Savannah, Atlanta, or eLearning

Many SCAD graduates who studied animation programs worked at professional companies in the animation business. Companies like Walt Disney Animation Studios, Bento Box Entertainment, and Digital Domain have SCAD graduates on their staff.

SCAD is also known for the student activities they support. At the moment, more than 80 different student organizations are active under the school’s name. College media organizations like “District”, “The Manor”, “SCAD Radio”, or “The Connector” as well as Athletics teams such as “SCAD Savannah Bees” or “SCAD Atlanta Bees” are just some examples of these student organizations.

SCAD is offering degrees in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia; Hong Kong, and online via eLearning… As an additional study abroad opportunity in Lacoste, France, and other locations. Each SCAD location provides a new experience, and students can choose to study in any location. SCAD offers B.F.A., M.A. and M.F.A. degrees in animation, available in Atlanta, Hong Kong, Savannah and online via eLearning.
